9.1 SCHOOL CURRICULUM EVALUATION

• This refers to the efforts a school may make to determine the extent to which it achieves the objectives of the syllabuses it teaches.
• The evaluation may involve all subjects or may be directed certain subject areas only as the need may arise.
• It focuses on whether the national and school curriculum objectives are being translated into learning experiences during the teacher-student classroom interaction.

Evaluation

According to Gatawa (1990:P. 50), the term curriculum evaluation has three major meanings

• The process of describing and judging an educational program or subject.
• The process of comparing a student's performance with behaviorally stated objectives.
• The process of defining, obtaining and using relevant information for decision-making purposes.

Assessment

In assessment, students are required to perform some act such as conduct experiments, draw pictures, perform and so forth. Assessment determines the students' knowledge and skills output.
